10 Years Ago, They Said Malaysians Would Never Pay for Financial Planning.

Yesterday, we celebrated a milestone.

Surrounded by people who matter — our partners, financial planners, employees, and most importantly, our clients.

What started as an idea 10 years ago between Idham, Sam and me has grown into a journey that none of us could have fully anticipated.

Back then, we believed financial planning was something Malaysians needed.

The data around us showed that despite the presence of intermediaries in the unit trust, insurance, takaful and banking industries, there were still significant gaps in how individuals managed their finances.

Holistic financial planning was not something many people were talking about.

So, we had an idea.

What if we introduced holistic financial planning to Malaysians and offered it as a professional, paid service?

The response from some industry players back then was pretty clear.

“This isn’t going to work. Malaysians won’t pay someone just to get financial advice.”

Perhaps they had their reasons for thinking that way.

But we had two things going for us.

A clear vision of what we wanted to achieve, and the degilness to keep pushing forward, even when the results weren’t coming as quickly as we hoped.

It was slow in the beginning.

Every client mattered. Every conversation mattered. And every person who trusted us enough to pay for our service helped prove that this idea had a place in Malaysia.

To our very first fee-paying client, and every single client who has trusted us since then, thank you.

You were never just numbers to us. You were part of the reason we kept going.

Today, more people are talking about holistic financial planning. The very idea that some once considered a pipe dream is becoming a more familiar conversation.

And honestly, that’s okay with us.

Because the goal was never to be the only ones doing it.

The goal was to see more Malaysians understand the value of proper financial planning and have access to a service that puts their overall financial well-being at the centre.

If more people are now championing the same idea, that’s a good thing.

There is still so much work to do.

Ten years in, we’re grateful for how far we’ve come, proud of the people who have been part of this journey, and excited about what lies ahead.

To Idham and Sam, thank you for believing in this idea with me.

To our team, partners and clients, thank you for being part of the journey.

10 years down. We’re just getting started.
